Melaleuca irbyana offset

Ausecology has been engaged by North East Business Park to undertake offset property management services over 40 ha on a property just south of Rosewood, Queensland. This property has a very significant stand of Melaleuca irbyana (swamp tea tree) growing on it, which is listed as a critically endangered ecological community under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act and as endangered under the Queensland Nature Conservation Act.

Ausecology repaired existing fences, completed annual compliance monitoring, undertook weed control, collected Melaleuca irbyana seed, propagated tubestock, completed site preparation and planted over 1,500 native tubestock to revegetate part of the property and fill in minor gaps in the vegetation.

The property is an offset for unavoidable clearing and will continue to be managed until it reaches remnant status.
