Client: Lendlease
Project/s: Gateway Upgrade North (GUN) Project 2015 – 2017
Kingsford Smith Drive (KSD) Upgrade 2016 – 2017
Ausecology has been engaged by Lendlease for two years to deliver all flora, fauna and weed management services relating to the clearing and construction of the Gateway Upgrade North Project in Brisbane. A key part of the engagement is the on ongoing provision of a team of qualified fauna spotter catchers to perform pre-clearing habitat and fauna assessments, as well as to work with construction operations to minimise harm to native fauna inhabiting the construction area and to install nest boxes for native fauna following construction. Shifts are undertaken both during day and night as required by the Lendlease construction schedule.
Our team of fauna spotter catchers has been successfully working with Lendlease to relocate, rehabilitate and administer care to a wide range of snakes, amphibians, mammals and birds during the operational clearing phase of the project. Our team is composed of deeply experienced fauna management professionals, equipped with:
- A government approved state wide species management plan
- Rehabilitation and Damage mitigation permits;
- Advanced venomous snake handling training;
- Chainsaw licensing;
- Working Safely at Heights; and
- High Risk Work licenses for Elevated Work Platforms (EWPs) above 13m in height.
Ausecology operates under our Queensland and NSW Rehabilitation Permits and provides fully qualified and experienced fauna spotter catchers to perform similar services on other construction projects in the region.
Our success on this project has seen Lendlease engage us to deliver a similar scope of works on the recently awarded Kingsford Smith Upgrade Project.
