Dam offsets

Ausecology has been awarded a three year contract by SEQWater to undertake the implementation of the Wyaralong Dam and the Wivenhoe Dam offset management plans.As specialists in providing offset management and planning services, Ausecology is managing these offsets to meet the approval conditions set by the Coordinator-General and the Commonwealth Government.The Project aims to achieve remnant status across the site through tree planting, assisted regrowth, weed control and other land management practices such as stock exclusion, pest control and fire management.The Ausecology crew has already undertaken an aerial weed survey at the Wyaralong offset site resulting in a weed management plan for this 2,000 hectare site.The team has also been out slashing access tracks and firebreaks as well as treating large areas for weeds. At the Wivenhoe offset site, the Ausecology team has undertaken initial site assessment, monitoring, seed collection, site preparation and planting.
